BIOGRAPHY

Ed Mackey is the Founder and CEO of Safety 360, where he works with churches and community organizations to identify risks, reduce hazards, and strengthen emergency preparedness.

Ed brings more than 40 years of experience in emergency services and public safety and currently serves as a firefighter, fire investigator, and fire chaplain. He is also a retired paramedic.

Ed is a fire investigator with extensive training and credentials that support thorough, professional investigations. He is a Certified Crime Scene Technician and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator through the National Association of Fire Investigators. His investigative training includes scene documentation, evidence recognition and preservation, fire-pattern analysis, origin-and-cause investigation, and the systematic examination of fire and explosion scenes.

Throughout his career, Ed has seen firsthand how an overlooked safety issue can develop into a catastrophic event. As a fire investigator, he has examined fires where seemingly minor conditions or hazards have contributed to devastating losses. His experience in fire investigation has led to him being called as an expert witness in fire investigation and fire related matters.

During his career as a paramedic, Ed responded to injuries, medical emergencies, and critical incidents across a wide range of situations. He has testified in matters involving injuries and other medical situations based on his experience as a paramedic.

Ed has also taught OSHA workplace safety in the corporate aviation industry. That experience reinforced his belief that effective safety programs are not just about rules and regulations. They are about recognizing hazards, correcting problems, preparing people for emergencies, and preventing incidents whenever possible.

Ed is actively involved in the United Methodist Church and understands the unique safety challenges churches face as they serve people of all ages and abilities through ministry, volunteer work, and community activities.
